Today I have been thinking about how I spent this day for more than 20 years of my life. So many thoughts and memories come to mind.

We would wake up early, even though it was Sunday. Sleeping in was never permitted. We ate homemade bread and fruit. Almost always.

My sister and I would then dash off to our room to make cards for mom. Even as adults, we still drew pretty things on folded paper because nothing made her more excited than seeing our "artwork". She saved all of them.

Before we could give her our cards, we had to always fetch flowers to go along. Even if it was raining, we would sneak out the basement door and head to the woods. It was usually wild geraniums or yellow marsh marigolds that bloomed on our land. But sometimes we found violets, which were her favorites. My mother loved wild flowers.

Then my sister and I would make lunch. We would always ask mom what she wanted, but since we were always poor planners, mom would usually just suggest something we could make with the groceries we had.

Today I found myself eating breakfast alone. Missing homemade bread. Missing my childhood. Missing my family and my happy life at home. Missing my beloved mother.

I am eternally blessed to have had the mother that I had. And I miss her more than words can say.

I hope each of you did something special for your mother today! :-)

Nowadays, it is very rare for all of us to be home at the same time for any part of one day, let alone a whole day. But when we do, we try our best to make the most of it.

Here are some photos from our day at Peak n Peak, a ski resort in NY. None of us ski, but they have other snow activities there. It was -5 degrees out, and it was 10 pm at night, but we had a freezing cold blast!

See the photos!

December 4, 1956 - September 12, 2010

My Mom. She was a shy person, but everyone loved her. She loved God and her faith got her through the hard times in life. She was the wife of my father for 27 good years. Her life's accomplishment was raising me and my brother and sister. She fought a long brave battle with a challenging rare illness. But her work on this earth ended last week.

I am grateful for every day that she was with us. She was the best mom anyone could ever have. I miss her more than words can say.

When I first saw your face I knew you were mine
We have both grown to love each other in such a short time
You know I’ve been looking for you my whole life
For the day when I become your wife
You have given me security and love
Which I have never dreamed of
I know there is a heaven and dreams do come true
Someone up there loves me because they send me YOU

An old castle in the city of Miskolc, Hungary that was built in the 1300s.

The scenery is very flat and boring in Hungary. Wide open plains, covered with sunflower crop. No hills, and only a few small trees. The buildings are ugly and run rown, reminders of communism. My father once visited Budapest at night and he told me that it was an interesting old city. However, I believe the darkness hid a lot of dreadful things. What could be a beautiful old city is ruined by filth, corruption, poverty, and prostitution. The Hungarian people appear to be very cold and reserved. But they are wonderful once you get to know them. The people I was traveling with had a very difficult time with the Hungarian food, but they fed us well and I have no complaints. It was a very interesting place to visit.

Everyone knows already. I've made references. It was announced on Facebook many months ago. Yet some people still say that they were never informed. So here goes.

The official word.

Photobucket

We met back in October. I don't remember the day he asked me to be his girlfriend, but we began our very long distance relationship. It became official in February when we started to tell people. Now we are still thousands of miles apart, but very much in love, and living for the moments we get to spend with each other in person.
